Mazda 2 Potential

It's been a slow week in general for me, so since I have no new purchases, I will talk about my most recent want - a Mazda 2.

I've been exposed to many of their ads over the last few months at Cineplex before movies, on television and most recently I got a personalized ad in the mail. I read over the brochure and it did peak my interest. I am in my last semester of school and I plan on moving to a new city when I graduate. Having a car would make life that much easier...but do I want a Mazda2?

The price looked very reasonable at $13,999 new, but after looking a little deeper and reading the fine print, by the time I added all the features I wanted (Automatic, A/C, Cruise control), it was just under $24,000. That's like taking on another student loan!! Can I realistically afford this? I guess I will have to sit down over reading week and figure it out.

Until then vote Treasure or Trash on my want - not my purchase.

  1. As a want its a treasure. Its a damn nice vehicle. We'll see if you're able to shell out that kind of cash for the real thing though.

  2. Well if your moving to the city, there wouldn't be any point having a car unless you want to pay for overpriced parking, gas and the never-getting-anywhere traffic. I suggest trash it.

  3. Hard to say. It would be good to have as you could get around easier.. but when it comes time to move, its not a very big car to help with that.. :P

That being said, what I just suggested to you, go to other dealerships and see what they have to offer..

  4. Don't do it...first of all, you don't need cruise control in the city, and I agree with Jessie, use public transit, parking will kill you. So many dealerships say "what a great price", but that includes nothing as you said. Go with Honda, they alway have lowest price, amazing gas mileage and look great too. Check out the new CRZ -http://automobiles.honda.com/cr-z/ ...go "green" for the environment, NOT green on the Mazda...TRASH IT!

  5. I vote treasure if you(and I) can afford it. Some research into other options should definitely be done though.

  6. I vote trash on this. Mazda 2's are nice cars but you can get a very nice used Honda for less than half the price and it will probably serve your needs just as well.

  7. I think its a nice idea but I am gonna have to go with trash.Better cars are out there at a more reasonable price in my opinion.

  8. Trash... Go used. Probably find a good deal if you searched hard enough,

  9. Trash on this one. The quality of used vehicles these days is so good that buying new isn't really necessary. I know the appeal of having a car, I really do, but you can take cabs to a grocery store a couple of times a month for a lot less than a car payment, especially since it would be one way just to get home with the stuff.

  10. Trash. Nice looking car - no doubt about that. However designers are paid good to make great looking cars that don't suit the purpose very well. It really depends upon the city you move to, and your budget at the time. If you can afford it, and like it at the time you move, sure, it can be a convenience - but trust me, it can be a curse as well. Sometimes you feel like you're going to work less for yourself, and more to carry the car. Point A to point B car might suit the purpose better.
